Eat several ( 5 to 6 ) small meals a day rather than waiting long periods and having larger meals. The reason for this is that by eating regularly you will keep your metabolism consistently active. Having long periods between meals will have a negative effect because the metabolism will slow down to save energy as it senses that you are been starved.

Always make sure you have breakfast. The saying ” breakfast is the most important meal of the day” is certainly true for dieters. The reason for this is that when you sleep your metabolism slows down ( again because it senses the body is been starved ) and it will not speed up again until you have eaten.

To boost your metabolism, it’s essential that you eat more than 1000 calories a day. If you eat less, hoping that you’ll lose weight faster, your body won’t let you. It will go into starvation mode, hoarding each calorie. This is one of the major reasons that dieters plateau - and some dieters even put on weight on a diet.

Exercise using both cardio and strength routines. Cardio will help burn calories but strength training can also be helpful for increasing metabolism because an higher muscle composition results in a faster metabolism. Your metabolism is also given a boost for several hours after strength training.

Now you know the major ways to boost metabolism you should find it easier to get good weight loss results. With the right diet and exercise program to go along side them these tips will be even more effective.
